Athletics
Sports
promote mental and physical fitness. Sportsmanship emphasizes courtesy,
fairness, and respect on the part of players, spectators and coaches.
Spectators are representatives of the school no less than the players.
Officials represent authority and deserve respect, whether their decisions are
liked or not. Evidence of courtesy, fair play, and self-control is the
responsibility of all at Ste Jeanne d'Arc School.

Athletic Awards Night

An evening for all students involved in
interscholastic competitive sports to be recognized for their efforts as an
athlete representing SJA.
Athletic Booster Organization
An organization that helps support all
intramural and interscholastic athletic programs. It aims to promote
excellence, pride and good sportsmanship amongst the student body and community
of SJA. The Organization encourages parent/guardian and the community
involvement and strives to ensure that athletic opportunities continue to be
available to the students of SJA.
Athletic Hall of Fame Award

The
Athletic Hall of Fame Award is to recognize and honor individuals who, either by
virtue of their performance as a coach, a member of athletic teams or by
meritorious effort on behalf of athletics, have made outstanding contributions
bringing recognition, honor, distinction and excellence to Ste Jeanne d'Arc
School and the Athletic Program.
Baseball/Softball
For students in
sixth through eighth grade, baseball and softball are offered as an
interscholastic sport in the spring.
Basketball
For boys and
girls in grades six through eight, basketball is offered as an organized sport
competing in the
Ecumenical Athletic Association's Basketball. An instructional intramural program is
offered for students in second through fifth grade. Both are winter
programs.
Bowling
The seven-week
fall and spring bowling programs are offered to students in grades two to eight.
Cheerleading

Cheerleaders in
fourth through eighth grade promote school spirit at all basketball games.
Cheerleaders compete in local and regional competitions.
Cross-Country
Track

A co-ed fall
sport, track is open to those in grades six to eight. Students compete in
meets as a member of the Middlesex Middle School Athletic Association.
Golf

Kindergarten
through fifth graders are eligible to participate in the six-week fall golf
program. Lessons are offered through the Billerica Country Club's Barrie
Bruce Golf School.
Ski
A six-week winter
program which includes lessons and ski time at Nashoba Valley Ski Area is offered
annually to students in grades three to eight.
Soccer

An interscholastic competitive sport for students in the fifth
through eighth grade, the girls' and boys' soccer teams compete in the fall in
the Ecumenical Athletic Association's Soccer League.
Swim

Instruction by
professional swim instructors for boys and girls in grades kindergarten to eight
are offered through the Good News Fitness Club in the fall for seven weeks.
Tae Kwon Do
In the spring, instruction by a black belt master of Tae Kwon
Do is offered on site for all students in all grades.
Tennis
Professional
instruction at Trull Brook Tennis is offered in the spring for boys and girls
from all grades.
Volleyball

Co-ed volleyball
is offered to students in the sixth to eighth grade. This is a fall sport
which competes in the Ecumenical Athletic Association's Volleyball League.
Yoga

Boys and girls from
all grades may participate in the six-week yoga program. A course is
available for the teachers as well.
